1) Name a country where less than 5% of the population attends church regularly.
2) Name a country where there are 1800 Mosques, and twice as many Moslems as Protestants.
3) Name a country where Evangelical Christians comprise only 0.5% of the population.
4) Name a country where some Evangelical Churches were included on a government list of "Cults", and where pastors have been taken to the local police station to answer to such accusations.
If you answered "France" to all of the above questions, then you are an expert on the religious evolution of a country which was once considered: "The eldest daughter of the Catholic Church" but was recently labeled a mission field by the Pope.
Our Job?
We are church planting missionaries in France, first of all because God called us to this part of His vineyard. Communicating the Gospel in this country is a privilege, because we get to participate in our Father's business and contribute to changing the situation here.
France is filled with churches, (church buildings that is), but they are mostly visited by tourists and valued as works of art more than as places of worship.
We are to call the French back to the living God who wants to be their first love (France is a country of passion that has been perverted).
We are to play a part in equipping all of the saints for ministry so that there is a mighty army to usher in the Kingdom of God.
The area around Nice, where we are laying the foundations for a new church plant, is one of the fastest growing in the country in terms of both population and economic growth.
The Lord has specifically called us to reach the youth, the 18 to 25 year olds, the "throw away" generation, because God loves them with an everlasting love and has a future full of hope for them. All that society has to offer them is joblessness, hopelessness and emptiness. But the Lord wants to use them to turn the world upside down. Nice has a student population of 30,000.
