Gage Newsletter - August 2001!

I hate hyperbole that often runs rampant in Christian circles. But we just spent a most delightful week. The team from Oxford were all students and young professionals in the age group the Lord told us to target. It was like a foretaste of the church the Lord has said he wants to build here, specifically targeting 18-25/30 yr. olds. We had soo much fun with them!

The "Worship Concerts" with the "B Brown Band " at the Place Massena
were..... I can't find words to express and describe what it was like. One of the guys (must be related to the Counter from Sesame Street) counted people. There were always 150+ laying on the grass or standing listening/participating. He stopped counting at 1000 people who made some kind of pause to listen. My neighbor overheard people sitting on the grass (she is French - the worship was in English) saying things like "These are religious songs, they are singing about Jesus..... I'd like to go to church if there is music like this...." She told me, "People were drawn by the music, and then they were touched by the content..." She is not a Christian but oh so thirsty. I could go on and on - We are still in the "awe" stage hoping to move on to the evaluation and what next.

The anniversary party was.....Wonderful. Somehow the Lord pushed the walls out and we didn't feel at all crowded. The children, I thought they had all gone upstairs they were so peaceful. The team was so helpful, trying to speak French, Sharing the kingdom in any way they could with our guests. At one point Brenton sang a love song for Alan and I and the Spirit of God filled the room with His beauty and peace, people were overwhelmed so we went into a couple songs of worship.....

We've had phone calls...The week was beautiful, there was some strong warfare so we thank you for your prayers and continued prayers for that which was sown and where to go from here.

We love you and are very grateful for your love and prayers
